Sheri, the estimator, was spot on in the cost and materials needed with very little excess remaining which saved us a few dollars. Michael and Mason were master crafters! They were fast, efficient and detailed. Their recommendations to slightly adjust pattern and modified metal floors strips enhanced the final outcome. They were super considerate of our house! My experience is only going into the store and viewing their selection. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a great selection of samples to view. We were interested in marmoleum and they had many samples we could view. And they took the trouble of ordering larger samples from the manufacturer and having them shipped to our house.

I had used Slaughterbeck Floors 3 times since 1990, so I knew the quality of their work and I trust them completely. After a full home remodel, completed in November 2023, I noticed that the company hired by my contractor to refinish my 80 year old oak floors did an awful job, almost ruining the wood. There were ripples on the floors throughout the house, sanding circle scuffs at the doorways, and holes and flaws pretty much everywhere that had not been filled. In addition, there were gouges in the kitchen area where the workers had dragged appliances into place. It was a mess. I called Slaughterbeck and Paul came out to access the issues and agreed to take on this very challenging "fix" job. He put one of his best guys on the job which I appreciated so much. Dominic was AMAZING! He turned a really bad situation into a beautiful floor. His expertise was evident in every aspect of his approach. From educating me about the issues he saw, proposing solutions to fix the issues, and communicating with me through the entire process. The result was incredible. Showed up on time. Were professional in every way while they were in my house. Did a good job on promised schedule at a reasonable price. They refinished the oak floors that had been under carpeting for 50 years. My wife is thrilled with the results. Joan and crew are wonderful to work with. We love our hardwood floors. We decided to stay pretty traditional (red oak), but we had a couple places that needed accent strips. Joan helped us deal with a tricky step down into the living room that could be easily missed because of the line of sight brought your eye to the back yard. She came up with a Brazilian hardwood (I do not remember the species) that made the step much more noticeable and helped us to make sure guests would not trip or fall down the step. She incorporated the same wood around the brick fireplace as a visual barrier before the slightly elevated red bricks. She suggested it would help act as reminder to not stub your toes in the mornings. She was right: so far no toe stubs!! The floors look great to this day in spite of us getting a Chocolate Lab pup!!

Slaughterbeck Floors is a great place to buy and have your hardwood flloors installed. I used them a few years ago to put in hardwood floors downstairs. I only needed one bedroom refinished and several floor refinishing companies quoted me very expensive rates. I called Slaughterbeck Floors and they came within 24 hours. Joan Slaughterbeck said, "No matter how small the job, we treat everyone the same." I had to wait about 3 weeks because they are busy, but the floor looks perfect. The workers paid attention to every detail that we tipped each worker an extra $20 for their lunches. I want to say that if you get 3 quotes and Slaughterbeck is not within the range, you should go back to them and see if they will meet or at least come close to your other bids. You just might find yourself with top quality workmanship AND the price you're willing to pay.

Slaughterbeck floors did a great job of installing hardwood floors. The crew is very professional in every way. I saw them preparing for the sub floor very carefully, and make sure the environment (e.g. moist level) is meeting the standard when doing the job. The finished floor looks beautiful, and the quality is so much better than the flooring job with another company that we had before. They made accurate estimate of the delivery date and it's hassle free. They are also extremely clean. The whole process is streamlined. Slaughterbeck Floors recently refinished our kitchen hardwood floor and added hardwood to an adjoining room. They did what they said they would do! They were timely and extremely clean each work day. Estimated time of the job was exact as well as budget. Part of the new floor was uneven which needed a threshold. Jim highly suggested putting the threshold at the smaller transition area rather than at the larger area, although at a higher cost, but we are very grateful at his suggestion. Dust was kept at a minimum as the cabinets and doorways were taped off. We highly recommend Slaughterbeck Floors!!

Excellent customer service, start to finish. We were treated well in the show room and were shown many examples (we already knew we were interested in cork floors). Many of the showrooms in the area don't have it on display. Jim did a great job measuring and estimating the quote. The installer was in and out in under two days. He worked efficiently and kept the area clean and tidy. We're happy with the floors and would recommend the product and the service to others.

Within a month after I had our oak floors refinished, our dog and cat both had accidents which left bad stains. One contractor came out and did not do a good job and subsequently wanted to replace the effected slats at a huge cost. Instead our Contractor suggested Slaughterbeck. Paul is honest and doesn't Over promise! He is very detailed about possible expectations. There were no surprises. Miguel and Javier did a miraculous job of saving my original 1926 birch flooring even after it was cleared of asbestos.

It is not about when the project goes to plan but about when it doesn't. Going in, we knew there were a few unknowns with our new home's existing flooring situation. And we found them when Paul's crew came out to take up our floors. Most of the floors were glued down super-tight to our concrete slab. What was expected to be a 1-2 day pull-up ended up needing 5 days and machines to help get the floor up. Even after the planks were all up, there was a whole patchwork of glue residue that needed to be cleaned up off the concrete as well. I am grateful to Paul and his hard-working crew who had the patience and dedication to stick with the job. Paul was also great at communicating and answering questions before and during this time. While he would not always respond to text messages, any time I called him, he would be available shortly. Even after hours. Now the new floors look beautiful, and I have confidence that if issues do arise, Paul will be there to help us through it.

We did not hesitate to call Slaughterbeck for hardwood floor installation after our first experience 5 years ago. Our job also involved refinishing the wood on our staircase and a small trim match on the threshold of our front doorway. This is a long overdue review for such a great work done by Jim and Mike. I placed an order for Masland carpet and the price was very reasonable as I did my homework comparing with many until I found Slaughterbeck. But what stop me here, not only the price, but the professional, the care, and ease of communication with Jim, his staff. The afterwork was simply amazing - it is needless to say about the great quality of the product. But I want to emphasize the work Mike did. The installation was quick and thorough - there was a hiccup on a broken ceiling light but they were candid about it and communicate and compensate the cost. Anyone who did a remodeling knows that accidents happen but it is who you work with that make sure a smooth transition of overcoming the problem. Last, it was my turn of forgetting to put the audio line down the carpet for my speakers, and it was very painful to do it myself without the tools to protect yourself from needles holding down the carpet. Mike came back immediately and reinstall the carpet with the audio wire tuck under the carpet. Slaughterbeck definitely win the 5 starts if not more from the beginning to the end of project.

This is the second time, I have used Slaughterbeck Floors for a large flooring job. This one was for all hardwood floors in a large octagonal house where there are no right angles and the house's layout twists and turns. Slaughterbeck Floors is a longtime local business with an excellent reputation. We have used them twice in the last three years for replacing both hardwood flooring, replacing resilient flooring, and refinishing hardwood flooring at two different properties due to water damage from a leaking kitchen appliance. I cannot recommend the highly enough. Our first experience was three years ago at a rental property we own and we selected them not only because of their reputation, but the fact they could replace the resilient flooring in the kitchen plus replace/refinish the hardwood flooring in the remainder of the house due to the water damage. As our tenants had to move out during the repair, time was of the essence. The replacement and refinish went perfectly and our tenants moved back in on schedule. We just recently hired Slaughterbeck again to refinish the floor in the kitchen of our home after damage from a leaking dishwasher. The floor needed to be sanded down to bare wood, re-stained, and re-coated. It was an expensive refinish due to the fact that the majority of the floor had to be sanded with a palm sander to get under the toe kicks of the cabinets; only a very small amount could be sanded with the large floor sander. The crew was awesome and they went above and beyond to help us choose the proper color of stain to match the existing floor as well as replace a badly deteriorated exterior door sill that was not in the original scope of work. Our kitchen floors now look better than the day they were installed. We discovered a couple of very minor issues after the crew finished and Sherry, our project manager, handled them expediently and to our satisfaction. If getting the project done right is more important than getting it done for the lowest price, Slaughterbeck is an excellent choice in flooring contractors.

Slaughterbeck Floors does it again - this time with epoxy flooring. We had Slaughterbeck Floors do our hardwood floors in our home which after 8 years we are still admiring. Now it was time to take care of our shop floors and they did a great job. We almost don't want to move our equipment in and cover any part of it. Mike and his team are great!

My contractor hired Slaughterbeck Floors to sand/stain our existing floors and install new wood in some areas that had been damaged by mold. Our floors are very old; the house was built in '66 and these could possibly be original. They had many deep razor blade marks and nail holes from various carpet installations. One room had huge screws drilled in to reduce squeaking. And since old floors were made with thinner wood, there is only so much sanding you can do so I wasn't sure it could all come out. Joan sent Miguel to do the job and he was amazing. The floors look like new! You would never know where the new wood vs old is. All razor blade marks and screw holes are gone, as well as the squeaking. Miguel was also very helpful with color. They had many colors to choose from, but none were exactly what I wanted. Miguel mixed various colors and took 7 attempts before we found the right mixture. He was so patient with me. Thank you Miguel!

Was referred to Jim at Slaughterbeck Floors by a neighbor and I'm so glad I called him. We originally had our floors done by another subcontractor and they did what I thought was a great job until a few months later when our floors started to lift. It wasn't until this past winter with all the rain when the floors started to bow and cup. So I called Jim at Slaughterbeck ASAP and he came out to assess my floor issue the next day, and sent his guys out to do repairs the following days after we met. I didn't get a chance to meet Miguel, but my neighbor told me he was the absolute best and he sure is. My floors are as flat as can be and you can't even tell he took the baseboards off. He did such a great job and even put on mini baseboards at the island so the wood that was cut inappropriately would not show. Also wanted to note the office staff was very nice and helped get me on the calendar ASAP as I had a party five days after my initial call. No joke Jim was out there and had his guys do the repair within a few days. I am very happy with the work and would totally refer them to anyone.

Had them remove 20 year old carpeting and refinish the oak flooring in my living room - dining area. Took 4-5 days just because of the process. Sanding, minor repairs, wood filler to achieve smooth surface, etc. Crew was on time, professional, hardworking, neat, cleaned up nicely behind themselves every day. Job was done on schedule as per bid. Can't ask for more. We are about to redo our kitchen. One general contractor bid an allowance of $5k for an oak kitchen floor to match the living room dining area. Slaughterbeck's bid for the same kitchen floor is $2400. Will definitely use Slaughterbeck to do the new kitchen floor.

What I didn't expect was just how high caliber Joan is with her clients. She personally went through myriad hardwood floor & carpet choices with us, and steered us away from making some bad decisions. I've used Slaughterbeck floors a couple of times now, for both refinishing of existing floors and install of new. Can't recommend them enough. In our first house when we pulled up the carpets and pad the floors were in awful shape. They were very honest with us that is was uncertain how the floors would come out. Well they exceeded our expectations and the floors came out great. Last spring we installed new hardwood in our home and refinished existing hardwood. Sherry was great to work with, responsive and professional. Her team that did the work were WONDERFUL, very nice and very careful with their work and clean up. I wish I could remember the name of the foreman on our job, but he took a lot of time to mix different samples for me to be sure that I was happy. I would for sure use Slaughterbeck again, we love our floors!

We worked with Slaughterbeck Floors to install Brazilian Cherry floors in the bedrooms of our new house, as well as to recoat existing hardwood floors that had worn over the years. We worked with Jim, and he provided excellent customer service throughout the process. The quoting process was straightforward, pricing was fair, and Jim was honest with his recommendations for maintaining the existing floors. He set clear expectations for when the job would start and how long it would take. The team that worked on the project was prompt and tidy, and the job was completed within the expected window. We needed an area of one room to be patched, which required matching to floors that had been installed over 10 years prior. Jim was able to find stock of the old floor, but had to reduce the width of the planks in order to match exactly. This required extra work but his team completed this without issue. The transitions between the old and new floors look seamless. Jim was clear in his instructions for maintenance of our new floors. He also gave us very useful information on the coloring of Brazilian Cherry floors over time; he set our expectations appropriately for how the floors would look when first installed. After the install, we noticed a few areas that required attention (minor surface imperfections). Jim's team returned promptly to address these issues. The entire team at Slaughterbeck has been extremely helpful in providing information throughout the installation process, following up on our phone calls, and closing out invoicing/payment. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. We will be going back to Slaughterbeck for future flooring projects.

Slaughterbeck Floors did a solid job sanding and refinishing my living room hardwood floor, and installing a new luxury vinyl floor in my bedrooms. I originally thought that the bedrooms were hardwood (underneath some older carpet), and had an estimate for three rooms of sanding and refinishing. When the crew came to the house and saw that the bedrooms were laminate, not wood, they immediately called Joan, who in turn was ready for me to come to the shop right away to look at flooring options. Since it was right before the holidays - and right before movers were scheduled to move in my furniture, etc - time was of the essence. Slaughterbeck Floors was able to deliver on time, and the new floors are gorgeous. I would recommend them to anyone.

Love this locally-owned outfit! The previous owner of our house in Willow Glen, a real "Do It Yourself-er", not only installed really awful bamboo flooring, but did it incorrectly. For the last two months, all in this house have been tripping over the threshold of our den floor that was both buckled and bounced like a trampoline. Fixing it was a relatively small job most flooring providers wouldn't even quote (I know this because I must have spoken at least half a dozen contractors). But the lovely and highly-knowledgeable folks at Slaughterbeck not only made the time, but did an absolutely flawless job in fixing the problem and for a very reasonable price. Refreshing to find a business so focused on quality and customer service!

Slaughterbeck was great to do business with. They were on time and very polite. The crew sealed off our kitchen so dust wasn't an issue in the rest of the house. We ended up finding a couple spots that needed touching up when done. They came back and recoated the whole floor and fixed the issue without any question. The only issue is that they are very busy so scheduling took a while. Overall, very pleased and would use them again.

After my tile store fail, I started to think about other flooring options for my first house project. I stopped in today to check out this shop, very close to home, easy to find, and plenty of parking. Since, I have exactly what I want in mind I really need a salesperson to point me to the right display so I can make my choice. What did I find? Exactly that! Stephanie was helping a couple but took a moment to ask if I knew what I wanted and pointed me to exactly the displays that I needed. She was able to alternate her attention between me and the couple already there. She answered all of my questions and offered for me to take home a large loaner sample. Wow! We are so happy with our new Armstrong Alterna kitchen floor. Our experience from start to finish with the Slaughterbeck team has been beyond our best expectations. Jim spent a lot of time answering questions about the prep that I wanted to do before the installation. Mike did an excellent job with layout and tended to every detail to make sure I got the quality I expected. I can't wait to use them again for upcoming projects in the rest of the house.

We had Slaughterbeck Floors install new carpet in our house after a big remodel. This was our third project with them and they did an excellent job. The quality of the installation was really exceptional. Dealing with Joan and Sherry was really easy and even fun. I did get a quote from another store for comparison. Recommended by our designer, Joan was very knowledgeable and informed us of requirements for having a new, beautiful wood floor installed over a slab surface. They installed a gorgeous, engineered wood throughout our home and bedroom carpet we requested. Maybe not the cheapest but we got a solid, quality job. "You get what you pay for..." Would definitely recommend to others.

Slaughterbeck came out to install engineered hardwood on a concrete slab. The job was expected to be completed within 4 days. After removing the carpet it was decided the concrete slab needed to be leveled before installing hardwood. I was well aware of the possibility when Joan came out to do an estimate. The job took longer than expected and it was well worth it. The floors are absolutely beautiful and I could not be more happy!! I had a stellar team of guys (Dominic, Daniel, Tony, Eddie) working on my floors!! Not only was I happy with the end result, I was impressed with the entire process. They were professional, considerate, hardworking, and they took pride in their work. The guys really know their craft and were most helpful in answering all my questions and providing honest feedback.

I had only one bedroom floor to refinish and some companies wouldn't even call me back. Those that did call back quoted me exorbitant prices. When I called Slaughterbeck, Joan Slaughterbeck came within 24 hours and said, "No matter how small the job, we treat everyone the same." Yes, they are very busy and we had to wait 3 weeks to get the job done, but it was done to perfection. The workers paid attention to every detail. We were so happy that we tipped each worker $20 for lunch. Slaughterbeck Floors was voted 2013 Readers' Choice Award for Best in Silicon Valley. It is an award they have earned. I want to add that if you get three quotes and Slaughterbeck is not within your range, I suggest that you go back to Joan and let her try to match a quote that you received. We just had a great experience. 1. very professional. When I first met Joan to get an estimate, she immediately pointed out some of our existing floors seem to have moisture underneath. And it turned out to be the case. No other companies noticed anything. 2. High quality work. The crew carefully prepared the subfloor, and they wouldn't compromise quality to rush the work. They also made suggestions to their best knowledge. Our home with the new hardwood floor looks beautiful. 3. Pleasant communication. It's a pleasure talking with Joan - she is always clear and to the point. She accommodated our schedule even though it was difficult. Stephanie is very nice too and recommended professionals to our other projects. Other: Their price is not the lowest that we quoted. But we still chose them because we only have one chance to make the floors right. We don't want to deal with any problems or squeaky floors in the future. Slaugherbeck Floors exceeded our expectations when they refinished our oak hardwood floors. We had some boards that were water-soaked and had to be replaced. When Slaughterbeck finished, we couldn't tell where the new boards started and the old boards ended. They suggested polyurethane instead of oil and the floors look spectacular. They replaced our molding, at our last-minute request. Every turn and end is finished. Every threshold is in place. We plan to have them put cork in our kitchen and carpet in our den. Their work was worth every penny that we gave them.

This company is excellent! Their workers are highly professional and very careful about minimizing the impact on the rest of your home. Perhaps even more importantly, when difficulties arise they make an extreme effort to resolve them to your satisfaction. GREAT SHOWROOM! These guys have the the biggest, most extensive showroom in the area. They were knowledgeable and extremely helpful finding the color and type of hardwood floor that we wanted.

The team from top to bottom is knowledgeable, helpful, experienced with know-nothing first time customers like me -- I learned a lot, got helpful direction and guidance to make good choices in flooring and carpet. Just for starters. Installation was timely and tidy. 4 years later replacement of a cat-soiled room's carpet was the same -- they had records (and actual human memory) of the job, ordering and scheduling was comfortable & simple. In addition, and of great importance, this local small business is trustworthy: it was a relief to have no second thoughts about scheduling install w/o regard to my being there. Slaughterbeck just replaced our downstairs carpet with cork. The installers were prompt, efficient and very professional. The entire process was very well conducted. We are extremely happy and will probably use them again. Their prices were very competative.

Recently used them to replace our family room floor. Jim is really nice and their workers did a high quality installation job. Additionally, they were very careful about keeping the dust and dirt off of the newly installed part of the wood floor while working their way across the room and they did not install any pieces that had a slight flaw to it. Not all workers are so considerate! Another contractor we had used before (Johnny's Flooring) was so careless that they tracked in so much dirt and saw dust that the brand new floor already showed many scratches by the time they were done installing it. So thanks to Slaughterbeck, our new wood floor actually looks brand new this time!!

Great local place to get flooring. They have a broad selection of carpet and hardwood flooring. The ordering and installation process was seamless (no pun intended - especially since we can't see any seams in the carpet 😊). "I had used Slaughterbeck Floors 3 times since 1990, so I knew the quality of their work and I trust them completely. After a full home remodel, completed in November 2023, I noticed that the company hired by my contractor to refinish my 80 year old oak floors did an awful job, almost ruining the wood. There were ripples on the floors throughout the house, sanding circle scuffs at the doorways, and holes and flaws pretty much everywhere that had not been filled. In addition, there were gouges in the kitchen area where the workers had dragged appliances into place. It was a mess.
